Meet the Team

Meet some of the Fans & Blowers team...
James Newey

James Newey - Managing Director

James became Owner/Managing Director in 2009 following a management buyout in 2004 having successfully managed Man Acoustics (Industrial Noise Control Engineers) before that. Since then the company have invested significantly bringing the manufacturing operation up to date. The business is nicely poised to continue to successfully compete for orders in the Fans & Blowers market. Where next for Fans & Blowers? Today – Delivering the best service & the best quality, and to grow at the same pace as our customers. Tomorrow – We have a clear investment plan for the next 5 years to technologically integrate all that we do inside our business, whilst giving all of our customers an exemplary level of service.

When James is not working hard on seeing the business grow and develop, he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling around the beautiful English countryside and walking on the coastal paths of the South West.

Duncan Keates - General Manager

Duncan joined Fans & Blowers in 1995. In his time he has been a fitter; leading hand; done a spell in the drawing office;  engineering sales and then Sales Manager. This year has seen some major changes and re-structuring at F&B and Duncan has taken on the new role of General Manager where he now oversees the day-to-day organisation of production, sales and the drawing office.

When Duncan is not working he can be seen managing & coaching Burnham United junior football team or acting as taxi to his two children.

Steve Wyatt - Internal Sales

Steve joined us in 2000 in the R & D Engineering team. Performance testing was the watch word for Steve in this role. In 2006 Steve moved to join the Site Service team and successfully did this role until going into  the buying office for two years. Steve then joined the sales team in 2011 to be the 3rd technical sales engineer in the  team.

When Steve isn’t at work, he’s often seen enjoying the outdoor life, playing golf, cycling or playing squash.

Jeff Thorne - Internal Sales

Jeff has been with Fans and Blowers for well over thirty years. During that time he has tackled most jobs in the business. After 19 years on the shopfloor, Jeff had a stint in the buying office (5 years) before having his current role in the sales office since mid-2009. A versatile all-rounder!

When he isn’t at work Jeff enjoys several hobbies, including watching motorsport, cycling and being a Martial Arts Instructor.

Bill Dawes - Engineering Manager

If experience is what you are after, then Bill is your man. He has over 50 years experience, working in the Fans & Blowers Industry! He started his apprenticeship with one of the Industry leaders of the time, and now he is finishing it with todays market leader! Bill’s expertise spans from all things technical, Engineering and Commercial.

When Bill isn’t at work (still a rare occurrence!) he can be found enjoying Motor GP & F1 events.

Sally Sims - Accounts & Sales

Sally joined Fans and Blowers in late 2012, initially part-time as part of the accounts team. She then increased her hours during 2013 and divided her time between accounts and sales where she took a proactive role in sales support and business development. As well as maintaining her position in the accounts team she now provides admin support to General Manager Duncan Keates.

When Sally isn’t working she can be found indulging her passion for anything equine, and as well as eventing her own thoroughbred mare follows National Hunt racing and is happy spectating at a variety of equestrian disciplines. She also tries to keep fit at the gym and has been persuaded to run the occasional 10k or half-marathon for charity.

Julie Ingram - Sales Supervisor

Julie is the newest member of the team, starting in October 2015 as Sales Supervisor. She works in the sales department with our technical sales team and is, out of necessity, becoming a very fast learner rather than, as in her previous profession, a teacher.

When not working she divides her time between her family, teaching, ferrying her children to various singing competitions and if she can escape, can be spotted on the fairways of Enmore Park Golf Club.

Keith Paice - Buyer

Keith joined Fans and Blowers in 2011 and took over the role of buyer in the purchasing office.

When he is not working he enjoys travelling, watching football and most other sports.

Richard Entwistle - R and D development engineer

Richard joined us in 2013 on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme with The University of the West of England. He spent 2 years developing our BSZ range, focusing on manufacturing, testing and energy efficient design. Richard is now putting his skills to the test as a development engineer, and is hoping to attain chartered engineering status in the near future.

Richard studied Engineering Design at The University of Bristol and has previously worked for several engineering firms including Arup, Atkins and Crux Product Design. He has a passion for making and fixing things, thus he enjoys practical work. However, he has to make sure he doesn’t break any more bones after his bad luck mountain biking!

Richard loves music and is obsessed with drumming, occasionally using his desk as an instrument… In his spare time he enjoys playing live and in the studio with various bands as well as travelling to gigs and festivals.
